crocs retail
hits the roadIn late 2017, Crocs welcomed the
Crocs Mobile Store to the world!
WHAT IS THE MOBILE STORE?
It’s a miniature Crocs Store on wheels that carries a stock of our most popular styles on board. It shows up at events both within and outside Colorado and weekly at Crocs Corporate Headquarters in Niwot. Rain, snow, sleet or shine, the Mobile
Store is there to help everyone be comfortable in their own shoes, no matter the location.
The Mobile Store keeps a full size run of all of our core styles, including the Classic, LiteRide™ and Crocband™ lines, which is no easy task! While the trailer can display approximately 700 pairs at once, the associates keep
extras in the back of the truck.
Another highlight of the Mobile Store is that it’s home to one of our four custom Jibbitz™ Charm makers. Customers can select from hundreds of special Jibbitz™ charms that can be made on the spot to add a unique touch to their
favorite clogs!
HOW DID IT GET STARTED?
Crocs used to use a Jibbitz™ Charm truck to transport merchandise between the warehouse and our original office building. After we moved to our beautiful new office, the truck was updated with our current colors and converted into a “stockroom” for shoes.
Then we added a trailer to renovate into the shoppable part of the store.
Crocs has about 175 hooks to hang the shoes in the trailer, which have an enclosed loop to prevent shoes from falling down during transit. We also scrounged up some fixtures from our permanent stores, including benches, standing
signs and big shoes. Within a month, the Store was open for business!
The Mobile Store initially started coming to Crocs Headquarters so that employees could easily shop the product line. But the Store became public soon after, traveling around the state to make Crocs shopping more convenient for
event attendees.
The International Sportsman’s Expo in Denver from January 11–14, 2018, was the first main event — and it was a huge success!
Then we came to Colorado Crossroads, a major young women’s volleyball tournament, from March 9–11 and 15–17, 2018. The Store sold a plethora of Classics and Jibbitz™ Charms. Unsurprisingly, white Classics sold out during the tournament.
The response to the Mobile Store has been overwhelmingly positive! David LaGrange, Store Manager, has this to say about his experience working in the store:
