The Dominican International Film Festival and avp cares

as part of crocs, inc.’s sponsorship of the Dominican International Film Festival in November 2007, the SolesUnitedsm program donated a total of 10,000 pairs of recycled shoes to families throughout the Dominican Republic. the Elliot Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of the dominican children, received a few thousand pairs of recycled shoes which were distributed to the children at local schools. the donation helped to reduce the number of children who did not have shoes. some families cannot afford to put shoes on their childrens feet and they were so grateful for new shoes.

Manny Perez, renowned actor and star of “El Cantante,” as well as Jennifer Boss and Jake Gibb, Association of Volleyball Professionals (avp) athletes, were on-hand to help distribute the shoes to several local children and dominican schools including Escuela Eduardo Brito, Havillar and Costambar. Jennifer Boss also spent quality time teaching children from a local school how to play volleyball.

the families were so happy to have something to protect their feet, they kept asking for more to be able to share the shoes with other friends and family members. i wanted to provide more, and will, now that I have seen first-hand how important shoes are.” — Melissa Koester
