TL;DR - The current image color of the Santa Cruz espresso on the site does not match the product (Dec 16, 2015). If this gets fixed, feel free to remove this review.

My first experience with Crocs was awesome. Picked up some black Athen flip flips and a pair of dark charcoal Santa Cruz. These lasted me for years and were the best investments in shoes I've ever made.

When it came to replace them I looked online and popped the black Athen's into my cart and then headed to the Santa Cruz page. The charcoal color wasn't listed but I noticed the "espresso" color they had listed was exactly the same as what I had so I added them to the cart and checked out.

When the package arrived I was so excited to try them out. As I opened the box and pulled out the shoes I became emotionally disorientated from the combination of excitement and anticipation to severe disappointment and disbelief. "This is not what I ordered" I thought staring

I immediately checked to make sure I ordered the right color - yup, it says "espresso". I logged back onto the site and looked at the Santa Cruz espresso shoe - it was exactly like the dark charcoal color of my old pair of Santa Cruz.

"What's going on?!" I thought. The ugly brown doesn't even exit on their website. I was putting together a bunch of screen shots to document and send Crocs to get this fixed. But where was this ugly brown coming from? I clicked the video almost on accident... BOOM! There it is in all its horribly ugly browness.... That is not what I ordered. I ordered the nice dark charcoal color that someone labeled as "espresso".

I'm currently in the process of returning the brown shoes. Please - updated the site images to match product inventory. This will decrease your returns.

Now, if you're read this long then you may be like me who has to read lots of reviews while doing your research for online shopping. I really hate that I have to return these since I had been waiting so long, but that's not the shoes fault.

If you're contemplating getting a pair - do it! Crocs are awesome. I only wish I didn't have to return these.

PS Let me know when you have the beautiful dark charcoal shoes in-stock.

Thanks

Peruse the reviews and examine the many comments that refer to the durability of the shoe at the big toe. I've purchased this shoe four times, as it's ridiculously comfortable, but I cannot do so anymore. The last Santa Cruz shoes that I purchased didn't last six months. Every single time, I've had one shoe (not both, oddly) wear out at the big toe. If I walked miles per day in them, over the course of several months, I could potentially understand that the shoes might not last. I do not. I typically use the shoes to walk around the house or the yard. I do find it telling that one of the two template "con" choices is "wear out quickly." Crocs apparently knows of the issue, yet seemingly relies upon fools like me to purchase four pairs before they finally learn their lesson. As I stated, the shoe is comfortable, even with the relatively new replacement sole (not as comfortable as the last one, but it lasts and is not as prone to odor. Crocs did a great job with this.) I do not like to simply complain without offering a solution to my complaints. However; the complaint, and its solution, is simple and self-explanatory. I cannot purchase again until I see that they have redesigned this. It really wouldn't take much time, much money, or much thought to do the right thing. I can only expect that it would serve the company well to treat one of its leading brands with the respect it initially built with similar quality and a fair price. Comments about Crocs Men's Santa Cruz:

I was shopping for a comfortable, slip on shoe. And came across Crocs. I new about the original style Crocs. But never new they offered a slip on surfer style shoe. When I first saw the Santa Cruz style, I loved them. Love the look, color everything about them. But,after reading some reviews. I saw a lot of people recommending getting a size bigger than you wear. And I did. I'm a size13. I ordered a size 14. The biggest size they have in that style. And I'm very glad I did! I don't know anything about the other Croc styles. But the Santa Cruz definitely runs small. I would have loved a 14 1/2 wide. My feet are arthritic and have become a little deformed. But that's not an option for this style. Other than them running a little small. I love them! Very comfortable with or without socks,as long as you get the proper size. Definitely recommend them.

Comments about Crocs Men's Santa Cruz:

I've bought 3 pairs of these shoes over the past couple of years because they are super comfortable and they look great. They are extremely fragile and wear very quickly. Not a single pair lasted more than 3 months without significant wear and holes forming in the fabric itself, not even the seams. I'd still buy them when there's a good sale, but for $50+ bucks they are a complete ripoff.

I love these shoes. the only problem is that they wear off every year. the fabric at the tip of the big toe always rips off...

I heard that this style is being discontinued which makes me very sad since that are such comfortable shoes and I love this style.

      too bad....

Are these slip resistant? I am looking for a slid resistant shoe that is closed toe and closed heel for work. I work on waxed tile floor which can be very slippery when wet.

This style does not feature special slip-resistant tread. We do have a collection of work shoes that feature CrocsLock tread, which provides slip-resistance that exceeds industry standards. Please note that while they are slip resistant, they are not completely slip proof. Please use general caution as you would in any other shoe. You can see those styles here (the Specialist is a work shoes but does not feature the slip-resistant tread): http://www.crocs.com/c/shop-by/activity/work-shoes

These shoes should not be to wide, You can convert by going 2 sizes down. For example a size 8 Womens would be a Men's 6.

The Santa Cruz is a Relaxed fit. It should fit you just fine at your same size 12, they will just not have as much wiggle room as you get from the Roomy Clogs. You can learn more about the fits here: http://www.crocs.com/crocs-fit-guide/fit-guide-landing.html
