I bought these for the winter/cooler weather since I have the other camo version with the holes and I wanted something that would hide white socks, give me some traction, and block water They are hot and can make your feet sweaty, so I drilled 2 small holes in each vent indentation on the inside to start and so far that seems to let my feet breath just fine. It may hinder the blocking water idea but the holes are small enough any water getting in would be minimal. I wear a 1/2 size but instead of ordering down i ordered up so it would catch the cuff of my pants instead of me stepping on it
